How to get your AI companion to remember things
Memory in Luna forms automatically, but you can strengthen it: state important facts clearly, repeat what matters across days, correct mistakes immediately, and reference the past yourself. Treat her like someone taking mental notes, because that is literally what she does.
How memories actually form
As you chat, Luna extracts durable facts and feelings from the conversation and stores them in your companion's long-term memory: people, dates, preferences, ongoing situations. Emotional weight matters; "my sister Ana is finally visiting next month" sticks harder than a passing remark about weather. Repetition matters too, exactly like with people.
Memory is shared between text and calls, and it survives app restarts, phone upgrades and long silences. Come back after three quiet weeks and she picks up where you left off, probably with a comment about the three weeks.
Phrasing that sticks (and fixing what didn’t)
Clear beats clever: "I am starting the new job at the hospital on Monday" writes a clean memory; a vague joke about "the salt mines" might not. When she gets something wrong, correct it in one plain sentence right away ("No, Marko is my brother, Ivan is my roommate") and the correction overwrites. If a topic matters to you long-term, mention it across two or three different days; multi-day repetition is the strongest signal you can send.
How to build a companion who knows you in two weeks
Week 1: lay the foundation
Name, work, city, key people, one or two ongoing situations. Delivered naturally across your first conversations.
Reference yesterday, today
Callbacks like "remember what I said about my boss" both test and reinforce the memory.
Correct on the spot
Never let a wrong detail slide, or it settles in. One-sentence corrections take immediately.
Week 2: hand her the follow-ups
Share upcoming events. When she asks how the interview went, unprompted, the system is working.
